Traveling Kansas

For the past month I have traveled somewhere every weekend!!! This has been very fun and exciting for me. First was Matt's and my trip to Glen Elder, then a trip to KC to see all of my girlfriends, then a trip to Wilson lake with Matt, Sasha, Mike, Andrew, Heather and Craig, and finally a trip to Marion lake to go fishing with Matt and some of his friends.

During my trip to KC I got to see Kali's new apt and I have to say I love it.Fri night I went out will all the people I love in KC! We passed around a fishbowl and Sasha insisted that we eat the whiskey gummy fish out of the bottom of the bowl, they were not very good. We spent Sat. shopping on the plaza and being a bum during the morning. That night was full of tornados and bad weather, so like any normal person, I went to the bars with Kelly! We decided that if the world was coming to an end we might as well go out with a bang. Sunday Kali and I went to the Princess Dianna exhibit at Union Station. It was really cool to see so much of here stuff, not to mention the Spencer Tiara.

The next trip was to Wilson late for Memorial Day weekend!!! I love the lake so it was great to get out and do a little camping. There was all sorts of yummy drinks and games to be played, most of our favorite was PAINT CAN!!!  We were thankful that the weather gave us a beautiful Sunday to play on the lake!

It is sad that this is one of the best pictures I have of Matt and I.

I think I am done traveling for a little bit, but who knows. I also received some very exciting news today, I will post it when everything is `100% final but be excited!!! I know I am!

Waconda Lake

Matt and I went on a trip to see his dad and spend a little bit of time outside this weekend. We went to his cabin at Waconda Lake. The plan was to get to shoot and fish a little bit. I have never caught a fish in my life, so it was Matt's goal for me to catch a fish. Friday night had packed up the car will a ton of guns and fishing polls, however non of them got used. Of course the weekend we want to play outside it is 50 degrees with 40 mph north winds, a little to cold to be fishing. However we did go and set catfish lines, well Matt and his dad did, I had to go check them the next day,  but still no fish. :(

Matt and I found lots of other fun things to do this weekend. We took a drive around the lake and let Duke go chase birds. At one point Matt slowed down the truck to look at a few deer and the next thing we knew Duke was running beside the truck, he jumped out!

I also got to go see the World's Largest Ball of Twine.

On Sunday after catching no fish we drive home and on the way home we stopped by Coronado Heights. It was very pretty and cool to see this little castle on top of a hill.

Matt and I at the top!

All in all it was a great weekend! We made the most of it and I am looking forward to going back and having many more great weekends like it!

I need to get better at this!

Ok ok it has been since umm....November since I have written but I am back and hopefully I will stick with it this go around. Since my last blog I have gotten a new and better job, a wonderful boyfriend and have been actively been trying to figure a way to afford my own apartment!

Lets start with the job! I am currently working for Nolan Real Estate at Parkview Townhomes in Wichita. This job is a good change for me, it is actually full time and I can save money! I am much happier here then at the bar however I am still looking for something better. The good thing is I really like my boss and being able to help people find a home.

The boyfriend is a man named Matt, we have been dating since about last time I posted and we have our ups and downs but I see something special between us and think it is worth a shot. I know this is crazy talk because before I met him I was very anti-relationship, but something had to change that and he was what I needed. The picture is from us on New Years. It is one of the better ones we have since he is 6'10, and a goof, those together make it difficult to get a good picture.

Other than that I am doing a lot of weekend traveling the next 3 weeks and am really looking forward to going to the lake. Matt is going to try and help me catch a fish this weekend up at Glen Elder! It could be entertaining.

Turning a Pumpkin into a Pie

My friend Lacey and I decided to make completely homemade pumpkin pies. We even made the crust from scratch! I thought it would be harder but it is defiantly something I would do again. We had a fun afternoon doing this and the pies turned out great!
We started out with a little pumpkin. We cut the pumpkin up and took out all the seeds and stringy stuff.

We then boiled the pumpkin and waited until it got mushy and the hard back would peel off.

I cleaned the seeds, out some butter and a little bit of seasoning and salt on them. We then baked them and they turned out delicious. Lacey and I ate all of them before the pumpkin pie was done baking!

We then pureed the pumpkin so that there were so strings left and that it would be really smooth.

From that little pumpkin we made two completely homemade pie!

Yummy!
This provided Lacey and I with an afternoon of fun and girl time. I think in the process she might have convinced me to go skydiving.

Halloween

For Halloween my borther chose to be a zombie and I was Snow White. I felt that these costumes fit our personalities very well. Kyle even asked me to do his makeup to turn him into a zombie and I felt that I did a pretty good job.

Halloween was also the last night my brother was in town so while I worked he was saying goodbye to friends and packing. I was lucky enough to literally run into the airport and say goodbye. He will be stationed in Diego Garcia for at least the next year and I wish him the best of luck on his new adventre.

Let Them Eat Cake!

So in my attempts to stay busy and avoid thinking about a few things I decided to try and make a fondant cake kind of like the ones on the TV shows. My long time friend Lacey decided that she would help me in this adventure and even though it did not turn out like we expected it gave us a whole day of adventures. Plus what girl doesn’t want a good reason to eat cake!
Our original plan was to make a fall colored cake with leaves and fall things. We soon found out that red is a very hard color to die in fondant and that my hands dyed a lot easier. So our bright colors came out and then we found star and flower cookie cutters. That led to this lovely creation.

The cake was a two-tiered French vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and vanilla fondant. It tasted wonderfully. So I am not ready to open my own bakery but I think will a little more time and practice I could get good at the whole cake decorating thing.

Sugarland and OKC Adventure

Since my friend Kali and I both love Sugarland and Little Big Town we decided to travel to OKC to see them in concert. We love going on adventures like this and decided that a girl’s night/ weekend would do us both wonders. Once we got to OKC we very soon realized that our hotel was not in the best part of town, so we relocated to Bricktown and were much happier and safer in the new hotel. This hotel was also nice because besides the concert we could walk to anything we needed. For this night the most important of things was the bars for after the concert and Toby Keith's Bar and Grill.

After Lunch and walking around a little bit it was time to get ready for the concert and head to the amphitheatre. This opener was Randy Montana, I had never heard of him but after him playing a few songs I intend to buy some of his music. Next up was Little Big Town. Kali and I both had a good time singing along and dancing to them. Sugarland however put on the best concert I have been to. Their stage alone was worth paying to see. It was also lots of fun to see Jennifer Nettles sing songs like: Single Ladies, Staying Alive, ABC, Beastie Boys, and Party in the USA.

After the concert Kali and I went to enjoy bricktown and the fact that we did not have to drive anywhere. We ended up at a few bars one of which was called Wormy Dog Saloon.
At Wormy Dog we meet 2 nice couples, the only people in the bar, and one of the ladies decided that we needed to dance with her husband because she did not want to. I was glad that good 2-stepping music did not come on but Kali and I both got free beers out of the deal and interesting conversation. We then proceeded to Skybar, it was also dead, and then to a bar called Tap Werks. The bouncer informed us that even though they were not busy his bartender would hook us up. Kali and I both tried new beers and the bartender did hook us with a 1/2 price tab. In his words "just trust me" so we did. Also at this bar the man that sat next to Kali and I was trying to have a nice conversation until he asked if we were house wives. I don't know why he thought we were house wives but it gave us something to laugh about. Please tell me I do not look/act like a house wife.

The trip was exactly what we needed and I cannot wait for another adventure like it.
