Turning a Pumpkin into a Pie

My friend Lacey and I decided to make completely homemade pumpkin pies. We even made the crust from scratch! I thought it would be harder but it is defiantly something I would do again. We had a fun afternoon doing this and the pies turned out great!
We started out with a little pumpkin. We cut the pumpkin up and took out all the seeds and stringy stuff.

We then boiled the pumpkin and waited until it got mushy and the hard back would peel off.

I cleaned the seeds, out some butter and a little bit of seasoning and salt on them. We then baked them and they turned out delicious. Lacey and I ate all of them before the pumpkin pie was done baking!

We then pureed the pumpkin so that there were so strings left and that it would be really smooth.

From that little pumpkin we made two completely homemade pie!

Yummy!
This provided Lacey and I with an afternoon of fun and girl time. I think in the process she might have convinced me to go skydiving.

Halloween

For Halloween my borther chose to be a zombie and I was Snow White. I felt that these costumes fit our personalities very well. Kyle even asked me to do his makeup to turn him into a zombie and I felt that I did a pretty good job.

Halloween was also the last night my brother was in town so while I worked he was saying goodbye to friends and packing. I was lucky enough to literally run into the airport and say goodbye. He will be stationed in Diego Garcia for at least the next year and I wish him the best of luck on his new adventre.

Let Them Eat Cake!

So in my attempts to stay busy and avoid thinking about a few things I decided to try and make a fondant cake kind of like the ones on the TV shows. My long time friend Lacey decided that she would help me in this adventure and even though it did not turn out like we expected it gave us a whole day of adventures. Plus what girl doesn’t want a good reason to eat cake!
Our original plan was to make a fall colored cake with leaves and fall things. We soon found out that red is a very hard color to die in fondant and that my hands dyed a lot easier. So our bright colors came out and then we found star and flower cookie cutters. That led to this lovely creation.

The cake was a two-tiered French vanilla cake with chocolate frosting and vanilla fondant. It tasted wonderfully. So I am not ready to open my own bakery but I think will a little more time and practice I could get good at the whole cake decorating thing.

Sugarland and OKC Adventure

Since my friend Kali and I both love Sugarland and Little Big Town we decided to travel to OKC to see them in concert. We love going on adventures like this and decided that a girl’s night/ weekend would do us both wonders. Once we got to OKC we very soon realized that our hotel was not in the best part of town, so we relocated to Bricktown and were much happier and safer in the new hotel. This hotel was also nice because besides the concert we could walk to anything we needed. For this night the most important of things was the bars for after the concert and Toby Keith's Bar and Grill.

After Lunch and walking around a little bit it was time to get ready for the concert and head to the amphitheatre. This opener was Randy Montana, I had never heard of him but after him playing a few songs I intend to buy some of his music. Next up was Little Big Town. Kali and I both had a good time singing along and dancing to them. Sugarland however put on the best concert I have been to. Their stage alone was worth paying to see. It was also lots of fun to see Jennifer Nettles sing songs like: Single Ladies, Staying Alive, ABC, Beastie Boys, and Party in the USA.

After the concert Kali and I went to enjoy bricktown and the fact that we did not have to drive anywhere. We ended up at a few bars one of which was called Wormy Dog Saloon.
At Wormy Dog we meet 2 nice couples, the only people in the bar, and one of the ladies decided that we needed to dance with her husband because she did not want to. I was glad that good 2-stepping music did not come on but Kali and I both got free beers out of the deal and interesting conversation. We then proceeded to Skybar, it was also dead, and then to a bar called Tap Werks. The bouncer informed us that even though they were not busy his bartender would hook us up. Kali and I both tried new beers and the bartender did hook us with a 1/2 price tab. In his words "just trust me" so we did. Also at this bar the man that sat next to Kali and I was trying to have a nice conversation until he asked if we were house wives. I don't know why he thought we were house wives but it gave us something to laugh about. Please tell me I do not look/act like a house wife.

The trip was exactly what we needed and I cannot wait for another adventure like it.

First Time for Everything

I have a few friends that have blogs and because of them I have wanted to create my own for a while now. So I have finally created my own place to write about, as my title says my loves, hopes and dreams. I will also just write about life and the adventures that come with it. Please do not expect this to be perfect writing in anyway shape or form.  Welcome to my blog I hope you enjoy!

I thought I would leave you all with a picture of my little moster Duke.
